Coverage January 5, 2008 Animal Rights Activists Mark 1 Yr. Outside Monster Pets by KYW’s Lynne Adkins |
It has been one year that ROAR, Reach Out for Animal Rights, has been protesting outside a South Philadelphia pet store. The protests take place every Saturday outside Monster Pets in the 1900 block of South Columbus Boulevard. Roar Spokeswoman, Rachel Ogden claims the pet store sells animals bred in puppy mills and she wants the public to be aware and get their dogs from local animal shelters: “We definitely have made a difference educating the public, so many more people are aware, carloads of people drive by and see our sign. Susan Hoagland, spokeswoman for Monster Pets says the year-long protests have been annoying, but there's no way to tell if they have hurt business: “It's upsetting to us because we haven't done anything wrong, we don’t' abuse our animals in fact it's the exact opposite.” The demonstrations are expected to continue. http://www.kyw1060.com/Animal-Rights-Activists-Mark-1-Yr--Outside-Monster/1433999 _____________________ December 22, 2007
