You Have the Power to Stop Puppy Mills!
Boycott Monster Pets is a campaign working to spread the word about the pet store-puppy mill connection.
For almost two years we have been urging Monster Pets to stop selling puppies and
instead promote adoption by working with reputable shelters and rescues to host adoption events at the store.
To date Monster Pets continues to sell puppies from puppy mills along with other animals.

MONSTER PETS SELLS PUPPIES FROM PUPPY MILLS!
>> Don't be fooled, Monster Pets' "LOCAL BREEDERS" = PUPPY MILLS <<
If you ask Monster Pets where they purchase their puppies, the employees or a Monster Pets' representative, Susan Hoagland, may tell you that Ms. Hoagland personally visits "local breeders" to "hand pick" the puppies. Think about it, if she personally travels to the breeding facilities to restock Monster Pets' puppy supply that must mean she is purchasing puppies from the puppy mills in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a.k.a. "The Puppy Mill Capital of the East Coast".
>>Monster Pets refuses to stop selling animals<<
Monster Pets has a chance to save lives but they choose to continue to sell animals instead. According to West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution, the co-owners of the Monster Pets' shopping center, Monster Pets will not stop selling "puppies and parakeets" because it is part of their "business plan". Our group offered assistance in setting up an adoption area inside Monster Pets' West Philadelphia store if they agreed to stop selling puppies. Monster Pets declined the offer that would benefit their store as well as the city's hundreds of homeless animals. If you question Monster Pets as to why they refuse to stop selling animals and only work with rescues and shelters, you may be told that Monster Pets does work with rescues and shelters. We are not aware of any rescues and shelters that do, in fact, work with Monster Pets. Reputable shelters and rescues will not work with a pet store that sells puppies from puppy mills. Read our open letter to Monster Pets and the co-owners of their development here.
Monster Pets sells puppies that come from abusive breeding facilities called puppy mills at both their South Philadelphia and West Philadelphia locations.
Monster Pets has sold sick puppies, according to several former customers. That is not surprising, because puppies born in puppy mills are ripped from their mothers at the fragile age of 8 weeks and sometimes even younger. The helpless puppies are then sold at pet stores like Monster Pets.
When you buy a puppy from a pet store, chances are you are paying top dollar for a puppy who may need immediate vet care or might be plagued by serious genetic health problems later in life because of the abusive treatment their parents received.
Puppy Mills - Hell on Earth for Dogs
Puppy mills are breeding facilities that produce puppies for sale to pet stores. Puppy mill cruelty includes: filthiness, violent handling, killing of unwanted animals and insufficient vet care. The parents of pet store puppies are imprisoned in tiny cages and forced to breed for their entire lives. When they can no longer produce puppies for profit they are regularly sold to laboratories or brutally killed.
Don’t forget the little animals, they suffer too. Birds, rodents, reptiles, fish and other small animals sold in pet stores also come from breeding mills, often worse than puppy mills. They die in large numbers from illness and injury at mills and pet stores. Monster Pets carries a variety of these animals. Our group has witnessed animals being delivered like inventory to Monster Pets in small plastic containers labeled "Live Animals". NEVER buy any animal from a pet store.

When You Buy a Shelter Animal Dies!
By selling animals, Monster Pets contributes to the homeless animal crisis. Each year, millions of dogs, cats and other animals are killed in shelters because there are not enough good homes. Right here, in Philadelphia, our shelters kill countless dogs each year. Area shelters and rescues have healthy, temperament - tested, animals ready for adoption.
